The white girl speaking Chinese was actually rolling her vowels...I kid you not. She rolled them all right, she rolled them up to the west-side then back down to the south-side. She rolled them all over this land. The American speaking French was amazing. You hear a clear difference between his -u and his -ous, -e and his -ez... I was impressed. Then the foreigners speaking English sounded like native speakers.
The most impressive was of course 'chinese speaking white girl', you know, the vowel roller. If you took away the video, you would swear she was straight off the streets of Beijing.
This bodes well for their program.
I did find out, though, that it would be more economic and efficient to just wait till after undergraduate school and just spend a few years there before heading off to law school. This way, I can get my undergrad degree in Diplomacy, Chinese and Poli Sci, then go there and get another BA in translation and interpretation, teaching the Chinese language, another language, and then spend two more years getting my MBA in international business and world trade, then finally a law degree.
What's cool is, I can get my degree in Chinese and my MBA by taking business classes in Chinese there. For that, you get both degrees. Then the other two years would be spent with a double major there in teaching Chinese and trans/interp.
All that and the school is a feet from the beach in sunny Monterey, California.
The video also said that the average graduate gets 25-30 job and internship offers in the last month before graduation, 60% are with foreign governments and the state department, and 70% involve leaving the country. The lady said that representatives from AT&T translations, the UN, and the State Department just start hanging around the campus starting in February.
So, untill then, I'm focusing on NCSSM and a few other language schools around the world (cool places like Zurich, Munich, Moskow, Seoul, Tokyo, Beijing, and Nice).
